Well, that’s a wrap.
Man, this year was tough.
2020, you were not what I expected.
I had a lot of stress, personal loss, and a lot to do this year.
I finished two novels, but could not publish either of them.
I had three novels professionally edited (finished one in 2019). I learned, the hard way, that just because I think the writing is good, it doesn’t mean it is, in fact, good.
My third novel actually had some good comments.
The first one… let’s just say it’ll probably be extensively rewritten or published as a free book.
The second one needs a lot of work. The concept is good. Heck, it’s great. But it needs a lot of “craft” work to be in publishing shape.
The third one, well now. That one is ready to go, after a proofread, so… fingers crossed.
I wrote a full novel by mistake. Yes, you did not read that wrong and no, I’m not drunk. Well, not yet, I intend to be later. It started as the short story: “Zombies, that’s what happened” and grew to over sixty thousand words. Tongue in cheek horror is the genre, in case you are wondering. And, you know what? I like that novel. I will probably publish it and sell it very inexpensively. I will also, probably, not have anything done to it (editing, etc.). Just a thorough proofread and such. It’s not what I consider my best work, it just sort of happened, so…
What else can I tell you?
I started this blog.
I wanted to write some short stories and have healthy fun exchanges with readers.
I also wanted to write “craft” posts and comment on my journey in the writing world.
The writing posts get answers and comments, my short stories…
This will be my last post of the year. I think. That’s the plan. Knowing 2020, saying anything is written in stone is… risky.
This will be my twenty-fifth post of 2020. One every week, every Friday, since I started. Plus a couple of promo posts.
I hope you’ve enjoyed them. I certainly appreciate all your comments and observations.
I wish you a very happy holiday. Have a Merry Christmas or whatever celebration you enjoy this time of year.
2021 will be a new year in many ways. I will see you on the other side, I will do my best to post on January 8th 2021. What will the post be about? I don’t know, you tell me.
Thank you all for being there. It means a lot to me.
Be well. Be safe.
See you next year.
